Indifference To God

Luke 10:27: And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Revelation 3:14: And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

God will not spue individuals out of His mouth for no reason. Lukewarm to Him is sin. We live in a world that is somewhere between outright wickedness and indifference to God. There are multitudes of churches and believers that are somewhere between righteousness and indifference to Him. This morning I realized for the umpteenth time that I have a flesh that whenever I keep it from outright wickedness will also settle for indifference to God. I sometimes confess my obvious sins. I need also to confess and forsake my indifference. Unbelievers may have an excuse for their lukewarmness but believers do not. It is the best attitude unbelievers can have but believers have no valid excuse for it.

Proverbs 28:13: He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Titus 2:11: For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Revelation 3:19: As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Psalms 69:9: For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

John 2:17: And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

2 Corinthians 9:2: For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.
